About us

Bagged Soil is a small, proudly Canadian shop in Toronto, Ontario. We're a brand-new company, and before that we were just people who love looking after plants at home.

It started with friends. We mixed our own soil for our orchids, succulents and monsteras, and friends kept asking for a bag of their own. We made one, then another, and soon we were mixing for half the people we know. They were the ones who pushed us to open a shop, so here we are.

We'll be honest: we're nervous about it. We're also really happy to share these mixes with more people than our friends.

What we make

Potting mixes for specific houseplants: orchids, succulents and cacti, monstera and other aroids, African violets, seedlings and bonsai. Big-box stores usually sell one all-purpose soil in a large bag, and in it orchids and succulents often rot. Making the right mix yourself means buying several big bags of bark, pumice and perlite and mixing them at home.

So we do that part. We mix each recipe in small batches, pack it in a 3 L bag (enough for one to three pots), and ship it with Canada Post. Every bag lists exactly what's inside.

What we don't do

Our mixes contain no fertilizer and no garden soil, only the components listed on each product page.
